Despite an already successful Appita (Australian Pulp & Paper Technical Association) brand – there was an emerging need to cater for the next generation of engineers in the pulp, paper, packaging and bioproducts industries. These future leaders were driving change in the industry and it was becoming more and more apparent that they require d a sector of their own. Appita needed a website that would act as a hub to support current members, attract new ones and provide valuable content, training and education to the industries ’ future game changers.

We decided to create a pa rallax style website where all the base information could be found on the home page and the content was still navigable from the top menu bar. Useability was our main priority especially when it came to mobile use. We also incorporated a live event calenda r that provided a running breakdown of the events and training that were on offer. This was the base for the first ever YPN Virtual Conference that was held in Early December 2020 and proved a raging success.

It was then identified that there needed to be more humanity connected to the YPN website. The content was valid, but they needed a greater sense of community. As a result, and due to COVID-19, we had members from all over Australasia send us video messages that we were able to cut together with typography animation to create a video highlighting the value and importance of the Appita YPN.

TThe website has become a pivotal piece in empowering the community, facilitating growth, professional development and aiding in the associations most successful online event to date.
